Still Reacting

In meditation, the most important practice is silently observing your thoughts without getting attached to them. Thoughts often appear like flies, and the mind, like a flytrap, instinctively tries to catch and chew on them. This process is what I depicted in the painting Still Reacting. The vase in the painting represents a silent observer, while the flytraps symbolize the mind’s tendency to react to thoughts. The deep blue background represents the subconscious, where this dynamic unfolds.

This painting serves as a reminder of the importance of noticing our reactions to thoughts and learning not to engage with them if they’re unwanted. It’s about stepping back, observing, and allowing thoughts to pass without getting caught in them.
